Bahrain Rugby Club Junior Cricket Section runs on Tuesday evenings split between the U12’s (5.30-6.30PM) and Under 18”s (6.30-8.00PM).  Both age groups have very healthy numbers which are growing week on week. They also aim to play games on Friday afternoon’s every 2 weeks to get the kids experience of playing matches, and give them an opportunity to practise their skills.

As with all sports, we are looking for new tournaments to play in, and we also aim to introduce our own tournament for the junior section.

The coaching group is very strong within our junior cricket section, as with the netball section, a number of the older group often assist with the younger group.  It is great to see the kids giving something back to the help the younger players develop.

Head of Junior Cricket – Matt Rees

This is very much a group aimed at introducing new players to the game, and is again all about having fun! Coaching both boys and girls together, we currently have over 20 players in our squad from all different backgrounds, and with all varying degrees of cricketing ability. Players as young as four are accepted based on an evaluation by one of our coaches
We train every Tuesday evening (in season) at 4.45pm. We try to include a few skills based development activities, as well as fun games in the sports hall using a soft ball to ensure all the boys and girls develop their skills, as well as have lots of fun! Ensuring they always want to come back next week.

The intermediate group head off to the clubs practise nets to learn more about the basics of batting and bowling, whilst coaching drills are held either on the hard courts or the grass. Players are encouraged to learn all aspects of the game, with internal small sided matches being a regular feature on our artificial pitch.

We train every Tuesday evening (in season) at 5.30pm, with a weekly nets session providing skill-based assessment and fine-tuning.

The Senior Group is all about practise and execution of the skills being learnt. The ability to bowl to a plan, or structure a batting innings, are things we focus on here with some minor skills fine tuning when necessary.
We train every Tuesday evening (in season) at 6.30pm in the clubs cricket nets, and organise practise games on a Friday afternoon from 1pm.
